The steel industry is starting to see resurgence in demand. Asia is driving the revival in demand and production with China and India the prominent players in the market. But as Asia increases production of steel, the UAE is building new facilities.
There is also planned growth of the mines supplying the raw materials for steel in both iron ore and coking coal. This is also leading to a review of the way in which each product is contracted and traded.
China is contracting larger volumes of coking coal for 2010 from a variety of countries and sources, moving away from the traditional Australian suppliers.
The conference will look into the following areas:
- World steel demand
- World steel production - country focus
- Metallurgical coal production
- Iron ore production
- World coke demand
- Index pricing and clearing
- Spot pricing and quarterly contacts
- Steel futures
- Shipping, transport and supply chain constraints
- Developments in Risk Management
We look forward to seeing you at the Coking Coal & Steel Making Raw Materials Conference 2010 in Hong Kong where we will debate the strategies required by the producers to meet the growing demands of the steel sector and the long-term forecast for steel production and demand. We will also debate the rising demand for index-linked quarterly pricing for coking coal and the drive towards exchange clearing.
